The island has several quite different types of vegetation and landscape. There are forests on stony ground, the moss on the stones taking thousands of years to form:
A bizarrre feature at the northern tip is a promontory of rounded stones. This was washed away by a storm in 1976 but re-formed within a few years.
And so we came back into the, er, town. Although there are only 60 inhabitants, some of them live quite comfortably, in places like this:

Transport here is a bit thin on the ground. There are no cars. Free wheelbarrows are left near the quay for shifting goods and tourists’ baggage; you just take one.
Of course if you’re rich, or lazy, you have a wheelbarrow like the above; this must be the nattiest transport on the island. The day moves on, 4pm comes around and the traffic rushes down to meet the ship:
